HSK History

The HSK are affiliated to the Japan Karate-do International. The members follow the teachings of the Japan Shotokan Karate Association (JSKA).

The HSK was formed by two ex KUGB clubs., the Yateley SKC est. 93 and the Sun Life of Canada SKC est 92. The HSK affiliated to the JKA UK in 1997 and are also recognized by the English Karate Governing Body (EKGB)  The JKA UK changed its name in January 2002 to the JKI.

June 2007 HSK celebrate 10 years membership of JKI. Sensei Harrison gives shihan Sidoli a token of thanks for the last 10 years.

June 2005 HSK host the 16th annual Championship. Special guest instructors for the championship and training course were shihan Sidoli 7th dan JSKA and shihan Flindt 7th dan JSKA

May 2007 HSK 15 years old. Students of HSK present sensei Harrison with a special black belt to mark the HSK 15th year.

August 2006 Sensei Paul Larson remains Assistant Chief Instructor to Sensei Harrison.

August 2006 Cathy Duffy stands down as assistant instructor for Camberley.

July 2006 Sensei Harrison graded to JSKA "B" class Judge, Instructor and examiner. The grading panel consisted of, Sensei's Abe, Matsunami, Pretorius, Muller and Amos. The grading was conducted at the JSKA 3rd World Championship in New York.

July 2006 Paul Larson graded to JSKA D class Judge, Instructor and examiner. The grading panel consisted of, Sensei's Abe, Matsunami, Pretorius, Muller and Amos. The grading was conducted at the JSKA 3rd World Championship in New York.

July 2006 Jana Gee graded to Nidan. The grading panel consisted of, Sensei's Abe, Matsunami, Pretorius, Muller and Amos. The grading was conducted at the JSKA 3rd World Championship in New York.

July 2006 Jana Gee won JSKA world Kumite championship

July 2006 Stephen Bailes won 2nd place in Kumite at the JSKA world Kumite championship

July 2006 Cathy Duffy gained 3rd place in Kumite and 3rd place in Kata at the JSKA world Kumite championship

July 1998 Sensei Harrison passed JKA Examiner D class, JKA Instructor D class and JKA Judge/ref. D class. again at the JKA 12th World Karate Championship in Switzerland.

The HSK hold 2 championships each year, they also have an annual Christmas dinner and sports day, where all those taking part have to compete in over 10 events. See the events/news item.

The members of HSK are planning on taking part in the JKA World Championship 2000.
